Keagan Masters Wins German Racing Championship

South African racing driver Keagan Masters has made history by winning the 2026 German Porsche Carrera Cup championship in Germany.
The 26-year-old secured the title with a ninth-place finish in the final race, finishing ahead of Dutch rival Flynt Schuring.
Masters recorded eight podium finishes, including two race wins, during his first season in the series.
His victory also gives his team, Proton Competition, a third consecutive drivers’ championship.

Rwanda Signs 10-Year Formula 1 Deal

Rwanda has signed a 10-year agreement with Formula 1 to host an African Grand Prix in the early 2030s, potentially ending the championship’s absence from the continent since 1993.
Rwanda plans to build a new racing circuit in Bugesera district, about 40 kilometers south of Kigali.
The venue is intended to meet FIA Grade 1 standards, which are required to host Formula 1 races.
Formula 1 and Rwandan authorities have yet to announce when work will begin or when the inaugural Grand Prix will take place.

Matthew Bowen Wins WorldSkills Silver Medal

Parliament’s Higher Education and Training Committee says Matthew Bowen’s silver medal at the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai is a boost for South Africa’s young artisans.
Bowen won silver in Aircraft Maintenance and received the Best of Nation award.
He was among 29 South Africans who competed across 27 skills, joining about 1,400 competitors from around the world in a contest that tests practical skills used in industries such as aviation, construction and manufacturing.
Committee chairperson Tebogo Letsie says the achievement shows that South African artisans can compete at the highest level and could encourage more young people to consider technical and vocational careers.
