6-full bursaries awarded to young scientists at Eskom Expo

This year’s Eskom Expo International Science Fair saw the awarding of 6-full bursaries worth five-million-rand, for studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The fair brought together the brightest young scientists from across South Africa and various countries including Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, India and Russia.
Winners of the full bursaries came from KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, and the Free State.
Meanwhile, engineering and technology giants Babcock International and Siemens Energy also awarded 6-full bursaries worth a combined 6.2-million-rand.

2-students from Nelson Mandela University have been named among the top 20 finalists in the prestigious Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education Absa Innovation Challenge 2025.
Ayabulela Binase developed the Nano-LAMP Screening Field Kit, designed for early detection of viral pathogens that affect common bean crops in South Africa.
Jazmyn De pree Du Preez is the founder of Fin Align, a mobile-first financial app designed specifically for South Africans.
The national finals are set to take place on 25 November in Gauteng.
