              The City of Johannesburg is one of the finalists for the 2025 Bloomberg Philanthropies Local Leaders Awards. 
The awards recognise innovative policies, projects, and programmes led by local leaders that have effectively addressed climate change over the past 3-years.
Mayor Dada Morero says this recognition is a powerful validation of the metro’s Just Transition approach.
He says they are pioneering a decentralised, climate-resilient, and inclusive energy system that will bring dignity, social benefits, and a brighter, low-carbon future to marginalised communities.

              Cape Town's Red Cross Children's Hospital has opened a new, high-tech Orthopaedics Unit, made possible by a public-private partnership.
The unit will treat over 5,000 patients annually and serve as a training hub for future doctors.
Fully funded by donors through the Children's Hospital Trust, the unit features advanced facilities, including a 30-bed ward, operating theaters and a physiotherapy gym.
