Statistics South Africa says mining production rose by 1.2-percent in September compared with the same month last year.
The biggest contributors were platinum, gold, and coal, while manganese and iron ore declined.
Compared with August, production was 2.2-percent higher.

Teen Universe SA contestant Iman Sekoto seeks Sandton community’s support

Sandton resident Iman Sekoto is competing in the Teen Universe South Africa grand finale on 14-December and is asking for the community's support.
The 18-year-old, Crawford International Sandton student, describes the pageant as “an honour and an exciting step toward achieving her dream” of being crowned Teen Universe SA.
Sekoto promotes mental health awareness through her Glow from Within initiative and does charity work with Emandleleni Creche in Soweto.
She calls on the community to vote and support her journey as she aims to uplift youth and represent South Africa with pride.

American singer and songwriter Sabrina Carpenter has been cast in a musical film based on 'Alice in Wonderland'.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carpenter will also produce the Universal Pictures film.
Carpenter will produce the movie alongside 'Wicked: For Good' producer Marc Platt, Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Dutton.
The plot and official name of the new adaptation have not been revealed, with the last major 'Alice in Wonderland' film being Disney's 'Alice Through the Looking Glass'.
