Tshwane Metro Steps Up Water Leak Repairs in Region 6

The Tshwane metro is intensifying efforts to curb water losses and improve service delivery through its ongoing #ThibaDiLeakage campaign.
The latest phase focused on Region 6, covering parts of eastern Pretoria, Mamelodi, and Nellmapius.
Teams repaired 112 water meters, fixed 116 pipe leaks, and cleared 97 sewer overflows across 14 wards.
MMC for Utility Services, Frans Boshielo, said the operation also resolved 18 critical service delivery issues and thanked metro teams for their hard work.
The campaign will now move to Region 1, targeting Soshanguve, Mabopane, and Ga-Rankuwa.
Residents are urged to use water sparingly and report leaks promptly to help reduce wastage and improve services.

Westlake community unites to rescue trapped kittens

Residents of Westlake came together to rescue five kittens born in a roof space and trapped inside walls.
Louise and Enrico Hanslo discovered the kittens and carefully removed parts of their roof to reach three of them.
The remaining two were rescued after contacting local animal groups Aid4Aid and Fur-Get-Me-Knot, with openings made in the walls to free the kittens.
A fundraising drive was launched to repair the Hanslos’ home, reaching its target within 48 hours, with extra funds donated to support ongoing animal welfare in Westlake.

Delta Airlines has hosted 100 students on its annual Dream Flights programme, offering them a firsthand look at careers in aviation and aerospace.
The students boarded a Boeing 757 in Atlanta and flew to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
During the trip, they toured historic rockets and simulators and attended a panel with experienced pilots and astronauts.
Now in its 25th year, the programme has introduced more than 4 000 students to the aviation industry, with many going on to pursue careers as pilots, engineers, and aerospace professionals.
