Zikim Crossing reopens to boost aid flow into northern Gaza
Story 3
Israel has reopened the Zikim Crossing in northern Gaza, allowing humanitarian aid trucks to enter the enclave for the first time since September.
UN agencies have been urging for increased access, especially after last month’s ceasefire, as communities in northern Gaza have been facing severe food shortages.
Some assistance had been reaching the area through the south, but it was not enough to meet urgent needs.
Cogat says the reopening follows a directive from Israel’s political leadership, with all supplies to be transferred by UN and international organisations after security inspections.
