R90 Million Boost for Community Education and Training

The Services SETA has committed 90 million rand to strengthen Community Education and Training colleges across South Africa, as part of a drive to improve access to skills development and adult learning.
The funding, announced during the launch of the National Adult Literacy for Empowerment Campaign 2026 to 2030 at Lovedale TVET College in the Eastern Cape, will see each province receive 10 million rand to support training and infrastructure upgrades.
The programme aims to expand access to literacy, digital and vocational skills, particularly in rural and underserved communities, with a target of reaching one million adult learners by 2030.

Oceans 8 Charity Swim Raises Over R3 Million for SA Causes

The Oceans 8 Charity Swim has raised more than 3 million rand since 2023 for organisations supporting conservation, education, rescue services and community development across South Africa.
The event, held at Durban’s Vetch’s Beach, brings together swimmers and charities, with funds raised through distance swims helping support projects such as coastal rescue operations, anti poaching efforts and early childhood education programmes.
Organisers say the initiative was created to help non profit organisations facing funding challenges, with this year’s event once again expected to support a range of community focused causes.

Africa Forward Summit Backs Growth and Infrastructure

Kenyan President William Ruto says the Africa Forward Summit has strengthened efforts to reduce the continent’s dependence on foreign support and boost self driven development.
Closing the two day conference, Ruto said billions of dollars had been secured to support infrastructure projects including roads and technology aimed at accelerating economic growth across Africa.
The summit was co chaired with French President Emmanuel Macron.
