Global study reveals world's best cities to raise a family

A new international study focusing on the best cities in the world to raise a family has been released.

The study which is conducted by Compare the Market AU, ranked cities around the world to determine the best places to raise a family in 2026, using 9 key data points that include safety, happiness, cost of living, family benefits, green spaces and education investment.

Three major South African cities, earned spots in the top 50 list, with Johannesburg ranked the highest locally at 41st place, followed by Cape Town in the 46th position and Durban at the 49th position.

Santa Shoebox Project receives R200,000 donation for Elearly learning spaces

The Santa Shoebox Project has welcomed the 200-thousand-rand donation from the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Part of the money was raised through the V&A Waterfront’s December 2025 festive gift-wrapping initiative.

Santa Shoebox Project CEO, Deb Zelezniak, says the funds will help construct ten reading corners in under-resourced early childhood development centres across Cape Town and surrounding areas.

FNB to launch smart ID application services

First National Bank says it is on track to launch smart identity card application services at selected branches following successful testing with the Department of Home Affairs.

The service will allow citizens to apply for the re-issue of smart ID cards directly at bank branches, with plans to expand the offering to more than 240 branches over the next year.

FNB’s Zibu Nqala says the initiative forms part of a broader digital reform programme aimed at improving access to modernised identity services.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour has launched its North American journey in Mexico beginning a continent-wide celebration of football
ahead of the official World Cup tournament.

The original FIFA World Cup™ Trophy arrived in Mexico City before traveling to 10 cities across the country. Fans will experience immersive activations, exclusive content and interactive football challenges that celebrate Mexico’s passion for the game.

The tour will kick off in the United States on the 24th of March in Los Angeles, continuing a 21-stop, coast-to-coast journey, visiting all 11 United States host cities and 10 additional major markets.

The tour marks 20 years since the first sponsored World Cup Trophy tour, and its sixth tour overall.
