International Leading Women Summit celebrates global female leadership

The International Leading Women Summit, founded by South African leadership advocate Patience Mlengana, brought together influential women leaders, policymakers and change-makers from around the world, to celebrate leadership, innovation and the growing influence of women in shaping the future.

The summit which was hosted at the Inanda Polo Club in Johannesburg served as a powerful platform for dialogue, inspiration and collaboration, highlighting the vital role women play in shaping the global economy and society.

The event encouraged participants to share ideas, build partnerships and champion gender equality while empowering the next generation of female leaders to drive meaningful change in their communities.

Founder Dr. Mlengana says the platform was created to establish a global network where women can collaborate, share knowledge and support each another in advancing economic, social and leadership transformation.

Over 200 students compete at WorldSkills national competition in Durban

The WorldSkills South African National Competition Conference and Career festival took place from the 8th of March, at the Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre in Durban.

The event featured over 213 students from across the country, competing in 27 skill areas to showcase technical expertise, with winners advancing to the international competition in Shanghai in September this year.

The event was hosted by the Department of Higher Education and Training.

South Africa launches African Digital Transformation center

The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union launched the African Digital Transformation Centre, at The Innovation Hub in Pretoria.

The initiative aims to accelerate digital skills development, artificial intelligence innovation as well as startup growth across the continent and will form part of the 18 ITU’s Network of Acceleration Centres across the globe, under the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Mondli Gungubele described the launch as a catalyst for Africa’s digital future.

The launch marks a significant milestone in South Africa’s efforts to advance digital innovation and foster technology-driven entrepreneurship.

Three young Kenyan creative duos have secured their spots at the 2026 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in France, after winning the second edition of the Cannes Young Lions Kenya competition.

The competition brought together 42 of Kenya’s most promising young creatives across the digital, design and film categories, testing their ability to deliver bold, creative and innovative solutions under high pressure.

The creatives secured their slots following a competitive three-day challenge held from February in Nairobi.
