Mall at Newmarket donates groceries to local children's home

Mall at Newmarket in Alberton has donated groceries worth R5 000 to My Huis Child and Youth Care Centre in nearby Verwoerdpark as part of its Mandela Day initiative.
The donation will help provide essential food supplies for vulnerable children living at the centre, while allowing more of its resources to be used for other needs.
The mall says the initiative forms part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local organisations and strengthening the community.

Sue Martin helps make Scottburgh beach accessible to wheelchair users

Adaptive sports advocate Sue Martin has raised R60 000 to buy a specialist all terrain beach wheelchair for Scottburgh Main Beach.
The wheelchair is now available free of charge at Surfers Paradise, giving people with disabilities easier access to the beach and ocean.
Martin partnered with the Quadriplegic Association of South Africa and supporters through a BackaBuddy campaign, and hopes the initiative will inspire further improvements, including accessible beach facilities and adaptive surfing opportunities.

San Salvador Community Hub Choir inspires inclusion through music

The San Salvador Community Hub Choir in Johannesburg is using music to build confidence and break down barriers for people living with intellectual disabilities and who are neurodiverse.
After their first public performance in April, the choir has gone on to perform at several care centres, creating meaningful connections through music and including South African Sign Language in one of its performances.
The choir will next perform at the Franklin Players Playground Fest at the Roosevelt Park Recreation Centre in Johannesburg on 31 July.
