The work involves repairs to the O2 pipeline ahead of the high-demand season in August.
Pumping will be reduced causing low pressure or water outages.
Johannesburg Water says alternative water supply will be arranged.
Residents are urged to store water in advance, as full system recovery may take time post-maintenance.

At a youth mental health awareness session held in Protea North, Soweto the psychologist inspired teens to take control of their mental well-being.
Organized by the Johannesburg Health District the session brought together local youth, health experts and stakeholders in a celebration of mental health empowerment.
The awareness session empowered South Africa's youth with invaluable insights into managing emotions and coping with mental health challenges paving the way for a healthier happier future.
