The Johannesburg Care Foundation recently donated 50 blankets, sandwiches, towels, and sanitisers to residents of the Antoinette Old Age Home.
Founder and chairperson Llewellyn Ryan explained that many residents are still heads of households, supporting their families, and deserve comfort and warmth during the cold winter months.
This donation forms part of the foundation’s ongoing winter drive aimed at assisting vulnerable communities during this challenging season.

The foundation plans to continue its efforts, with upcoming distributions of more blankets scheduled for areas such as Florida and Fleurhof.

France has awarded its highest civilian honour to 589 people, including feminist icon Gisele Pelicot and global music star Pharrell Williams.
72 year old Pelicot, was honoured for her courage in breaking her silence, with her testimony helping to bring legal reform to France’s rape laws.

She is now working on a book to share her full story.
Williams, known for hits like Happy, was honoured for his success in music and fashion.
He’s been Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director since 2023.
The list also included celebrated artists, legal minds and Holocaust survivor Yvette Levy, aged 99.

The Randpark Ridge Village Association is enhancing local wildlife by installing owl boxes and bat hotels across the greenbelt.
These shelters provide safe homes for barn owls and spotted eagle owls, natural predators that can eat up to 1 000 rodents a year, helping control pests without chemicals.
Bat hotels offer vital roosting spaces for bats, which consume hundreds of insects per hour, including mosquitoes and crop pests.
RRVA’s initiative supports biodiversity, reduces pesticide use, and restores balance in the area’s ecosystem.
Residents are encouraged to learn more and get involved in protecting these important species.
