Soweto learners get career day

Level Up Soweto and Imvelo Projects and Stuff hosted a Career Day workshop on February 7 in Protea Glen, Soweto, for over 100 grades 11 and 12 learners.
The workshop gave students practical insights into careers in agriculture, journalism, and other fields, helping them make informed decisions about their futures.
Learners also took part in an essay competition imagining themselves as cabinet ministers, building leadership skills and critical thinking.
Imvelo Projects & Stuff Director, Tumelo Pride, says by connecting learners with industry professionals and hands-on activities, their goal is to equip them with the knowledge and confidence to pursue their chosen career paths.

Bless a Baby appealing for knitted and crocheted blankets

Non-profit organisation Bless a Baby in Cape Town has appealed for knitted and crocheted blankets after supplies for newborns dropped to critical levels.
Within days, community groups and individuals responded by delivering dozens of blankets and baby essentials.
Nutty Knitters alone donated 54 blankets, along with bags of baby clothes and toys, while several community members also contributed.
Bless a Baby continues to collect donations to support vulnerable infants and their families.

Algeria celebrates return to World Cup stage

Algeria is celebrating its return to the FIFA World Cup stage.
 The tournament’s trophy model arrived in the country last Sunday as part of a global promotional tour, marking Algeria’s first World Cup qualification in 12 years.
Meanwhile, in South Africa, the trophy landed at Pretoria’s Union Buildings on 30 January, received by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton Mackenzi says he is excited and optimistic as Bafana Bafana prepares to compete for the trophy for the first time in 16 years:

NASA launches four astronauts

NASA has launched four astronauts to the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Friday.
The crew replace Crew-11, which returned to Earth early after a medical issue, leaving the station temporarily staffed by only three astronauts.
Crew-12 is expected to arrive at the orbiting lab Saturday, filling the vacancies left by their evacuated colleagues last month and bringing the space station back to full staff.
