The City of Tshwane has launched a major government led housing development in northern Tshwane that is set to create thousands of housing opportunities.
The Thorn Tree East and View project will provide more than 7,000 First Home Finance opportunities, over 7,500 serviced residential stands and 1,200 high rise RDP housing units.
The City will prepare the land and install roads, water and sewer infrastructure, while the Gauteng Department of Human Settlements will fund and build the housing units

South African star Tyla has made history after her latest album, A*POP, reached number one on Billboard’s World Albums chart.
The achievement makes the Johannesburg born singer the first African artist to have two albums reach the top of the chart, following the success of her self titled debut in 2024.
Her latest album also features collaborations with South African artists, helping take local sounds to an even bigger international audience.

The Roodepoort Krugersdorp SPCA has received a R52,000 donation from Hot Cares to strengthen security and carry out important maintenance at its animal welfare facility.
The funding will help the organisation improve its premises and protect its facilities, allowing more resources to remain focused on caring for animals.
The support will also assist with upgrades that had previously been delayed as the SPCA dealt with other urgent needs.

Thousands of young scientists from across South Africa are putting their ideas to the test as the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists regional fairs get underway.
The programme runs from 25 July to 21 August, with projects focused on solving real world challenges being judged by experts.
At the fair in the Western Cape, young girls are also showcasing their scientific talent and innovation for a chance to progress to the Eskom Expo International Science Fair.
