Women’s Boxing Set for Historic Night in Cape Town

Some of South Africa’s top female boxers are set to take centre stage in Cape Town, with five women’s championship fights scheduled on a single boxing card.
The historic Fight Like a Woman event will feature Simangele Smash Hadebe taking on Owethu Rula for the vacant WBF world flyweight title, while South African lightweight champion Bonita van Jaarsveld will also defend her title.
The tournament is being promoted by Terry Anne Hart and is aimed at creating a bigger platform for female fighters as women’s boxing continues to grow in South Africa.

A West Rand charity initiative has brought businesses, volunteers and a cancer support organisation together to help children living with cancer.
Everyday Kindness Charity Foundation volunteers worked as waiters at Panarottis Clearwater, which donated 10% of the evening’s turnover to Cupcakes of Hope.
The event also raised awareness ahead of National Cupcake Day on 26 September, when cupcakes will be sold at more than 80 shopping malls across South Africa to raise funds for children with cancer.
