Skaters Cross Africa to Fund Uganda’s First Skatepark
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Three skateboarders are continuing a 5 900 kilometre journey from Uganda’s capital towards Cape Town in a bid to fund the country’s first permanent skatepark.
Jason, Isaac and Ephraim are now on day 64 of their cross continental skate, raising money and awareness for the project aimed at building what could become Africa’s biggest skate facility for young people.
The initiative is linked to the Kampala Skateboard Initiative, which has introduced skating to communities across Uganda but says lack of infrastructure remains a major challenge.
The group’s campaign is aimed at creating a dedicated space where young skaters can train safely, develop skills and grow the sport.
