Total of 8,596 smart classrooms introduced by GP Education

To date a total of 8,596 smart classrooms have been introduced by the Gauteng Education Department.
This is part of an initiative that aims to transform classrooms into digital learning spaces with top of the range information communications technology.
The classrooms are prioritised for township secondary schools and identified primary schools in line with the department's Information and Communication Technology Strategy.
The department says full ICT schools receive smart classrooms from Grade 7 to 12, while township fee and no fee-paying schools receive the classrooms from Grades 10 to 12, depending on classroom infrastructure readiness.

Transnet National Ports Authority signs public-private partnership agreement

Transnet National Ports Authority has signed a public-private partnership agreement to increase the capacity of a Liquid Bulk Terminal at the Port of Cape Town.
The initial investment of over R195-million, will enable greater capacity for storage and distribution of fuel for, among others, international shipping, fishing and agriculture.
The Authority says it is well on track to stabilise ports and create an enabling environment for growth.

EduPlant Programme promote food security in underserved communities

Learners from 32 schools across the country took part in the EduPlant School Competition in Rustenburg in the North West.
The competition forms part of the wider EduPlant Programme that has supported the establishment of food gardens at thousands of schools, promoting food security in under-served communities.

EU commits about R11 billion for Africa's clean energy

The European Union has committed about R11 billion, to modernise power grids and expand clean energy access in nine African countries.
Funding will go towards transmission upgrade, rural electrification, and expand renewable energy.
