St Columba’s Presbyterian Church in Parkview has started its Winter Warmers project, distributing hot meals and blankets to people in need as temperatures drop.
People who visited the church received soup, bread, and fruit, along with blankets as part of the support drive.
The blanket distribution is supported by donations and forms part of a wider community effort to provide hundreds of blankets through local outreach programmes.
Organisers say the initiative focuses on meeting basic needs and supporting vulnerable residents during the cold season.

Elevate Her Africa has provided a year’s supply of sanitary pads to 10 women in Alexandra through its period poverty programme.
The initiative, run with The Real Deal Show, replaces monthly distributions with annual supplies funded by donors.
The support removes the need for regular pad purchases, easing financial pressure on recipients.
The organisation says it aims to expand the programme to reach more women through ongoing donations and registrations.

South Africa’s wheelchair tennis team, won bronze at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup European Qualification event in Italy.
Lucas Sithole and Donald Ramphadi, competed in singles and doubles matches before securing victory in the bronze-medal playoff.
The result followed their campaign to qualify for the World Team Cup finals and support their path to future Paralympic competition.
The team finished on the podium after a week of international matches.
