The university has announced the five winners of this first-of-its-kind initiative, which ensures African music creators lead the way in AI innovation.
The teams worked with AI engineers to build digital archives, create interactive instruments, and design storytelling platforms.
Winners include Umlilo’s Zazi and Joshua Kroon’s Engine, a project bringing endangered Baka music back to life for future generations.

WALKING the Talk Foundation completes 2 community projects in Durban

WALKING the Talk Foundation in Amanzimtoti Durban, in partnership with leading manufacturer Macsteel, has completed two community projects since the start of the year.
Fourteen security gates were sponsored and installed at local schools to improve safety.
The foundation and Macsteel also donated a one-month supply of nappies to Shepherd’s Keep, which cares for HIV-positive babies.
The projects make schools safer and give vulnerable children the support they need.
