Usizolwethu School receives R2 million for digital learning

Usizolwethu Special Needs School in Gauteng received a R2 million investment to expand digital learning for pupils with intellectual disabilities.
The Vodacom Foundation, with support from the Gauteng Department of Education, provided the funding, which will supply ICT infrastructure, solar-powered connectivity, special needs equipment, renovated learning labs, and a vegetable garden to support nutrition and sustainability.
The investment is helping students with special needs access the tools and opportunities they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

Midvaal students get financial assistance

44 students will receive financial assistance from the Midvaal Municipality through the Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme.
The municipality increased the programme’s budget to R1.105 million, allowing it to fund 44 students, up from 37 last year.
Council approved an additional R305 000 as part of the 2025/2026 Adjusted Capital and Operating Budgets, raising the original allocation of R750 000.
Nedbank also contributed to the fund.
Since its launch in 2024, the Mayoral Student Financial Aid Programme has disbursed more than R2.6 million to at least 101 students pursuing higher education.
