Story 1
Winning projects from the AI & African Music Project will be showcased at Wits University in April 2026.
The university has announced the five winners of this first-of-its-kind initiative, which ensures African music creators lead the way in AI innovation.
The teams worked with AI engineers to build digital archives, create interactive instruments, and design storytelling platforms.
Winners include Umlilo’s Zazi and Joshua Kroon’s Engine, a project bringing endangered Baka music back to life for future generations.
The initiative lets creators combine technology with tradition, keeping African music alive and helping it inspire and connect people across the world.

Cableway Charity Challenge in Cape Town
Story 3
The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company will host the Cableway Charity Challenge in Cape Town in May, giving participants a chance to make a difference while taking on the climb.

Organisers hope to raise more than R1.2 million this year, and both individuals and teams—from schools or companies—can take part.
Supporters can also sponsor climbers, helping boost fundraising while cheering on those tackling the mountain for a good cause.
