Progress continues on Rea Vaya Phase 1C (a), with Sandton and Gandhi stations now 55% complete, according to the Johannesburg Development Agency.
As part of a broader plan to transform Johannesburg’s public transport system, this phase will introduce 141 low-entry buses, 13 new stations, and improved connectivity for over 40,000 commuters in areas including Sandton, Marlboro, Yeoville, and Greenstone.
Upgrades are also underway on key roads to support the new bus lanes, and two depots in Alexandra and Selby will maintain the fleet.
The newly formed Alexandra Bus Company will operate the service, marking an exciting step toward safer, smarter, and more inclusive transport in the city.
