The Love Trust is turning Mandela Day into a week long volunteer drive to support learners at Nokuphila School in Thembisa.
The initiative invites volunteers to help with activities including preparing meals, maintaining vegetable gardens, organising the library, improving learning spaces and taking part in a sports day, helping to strengthen the school's daily operations.
The organisation hopes the programme will encourage more people to invest their time and skills in creating lasting opportunities for young people beyond Mandela Day.

Trek4Mandela climbers prepare to summit Kilimanjaro for girls' education

Climbers from South Africa and abroad are preparing to take on Mount Kilimanjaro as part of the annual Trek4Mandela expedition in honour of Nelson Mandela's legacy.
The initiative raises funds and awareness for the Imbumba Foundation's Caring4Girls programme, which helps tackle period poverty by providing menstrual products and health education to schoolgirls across Southern Africa.
Since its launch in 2012, the expedition has inspired hundreds of participants to turn a physical challenge into a mission that supports dignity, education and brighter futures for young girls. First time climber Ayanda Ali says she has been encouraged by the support she has received.

Hockey kit donation gives young Gauteng players a boost

Young hockey players in Gauteng are set to benefit after more than 18 boxes of donated sports equipment arrived from England.
The donation from members of the Sevenoaks Hockey Club in Kent was received by Johannesburg based charity Play It Forward after months of delays, with most of the kit going to the Soweto based Pandas Hockey Club for distribution to development clubs across southern Gauteng.
Some of the clothing has also been donated to local charities, extending the impact of the generous contribution to even more young people.

A London artist is gaining global attention for creating detailed drawings using nothing but the keys of vintage typewriters.
Twenty nine year old James Cook spent six weeks typing more than a million letters and symbols to create a Wimbledon inspired artwork depicting Centre Court, complete with hidden characters and tributes to tennis legends including Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Billie Jean King.
The unique piece has attracted millions of views on social media, turning a school art project into a successful full time career.
