Wheelchair users can now access Scottburgh Main Beach more easily, thanks to a community fundraising initiative on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.
Adaptive sports advocate Sue Martin raised 60,000 rand in six weeks to buy an all-terrain beach wheelchair.
The chair is available free of charge at Surfers Paradise, allowing people with disabilities to move across the sand and enjoy the beach.
The project is helping remove barriers and create more inclusive spaces where families can enjoy the coastline together.

The awards, themed the “Homecoming Edition”, will return to the North West Province, with the main ceremony taking place at Sun City Superbowl in August.
The nominees for the top five categories, including Album of the Year and Male and Female Artist of the Year, will be announced in the coming weeks.
RiSA CEO Nhlanhla Sibisi says this year’s nominations reflect the range of music produced in South Africa.
