Radiokop blooms as community garden winners announced

The Radiokop Residents Association has announced the winners of its annual Garden and Verge Competition, celebrating residents who improve shared spaces with pride and teamwork.
Karizelle, represented by Nadine Craig, won Best Complex, while Mayers Estate was recognised for ongoing excellence. Leanne Cardoso took Best House, with Lebo Moremi as runner-up. Shauna and Janette Stanger won Most Improved.
Several entries, including BP Radiokop, Natural Dynamic School, Ridgecrest Family Church, King Edward Verge, and homes in Luit Street, were specially recognised for their role in creating a greener and healthier environment.
RRA chairperson Chalice Moodley thanked judge Manny de Freitas and said the competition is about pride, connection, and building a caring community.

South Africans Unite to Save Big Cats from Western Cape Fires

Communities and organisations across South Africa came together last week to help Panthera Africa Big Cat Sanctuaryin Stanford, Western Cape, rescue lions, leopards, jaguars, tigers, and other animals as wildfires swept through the area.
With quick action and support, many of the sanctuary’s big cats—including Leopards Gabriel and Pardus, tiger Arabella, and lions Jade and Zakara—were safely relocated to sanctuaries across the country.
The team at Panthera says the outpouring of help was overwhelming and will allow them to focus on caring for the remaining animals and rebuilding stronger than before.
