Melrose Arch is celebrating the 9th year of its iconic "Destination Christmas" experience a tradition that has become a highlight of the city’s holiday season.

Planned Rand Water maintenance to disrupt water supply in Sandton

Areas in and around Sandton will experience water supply disruptions due to planned maintenance by Rand Water on the Palmiet system.
The maintenance is scheduled to run continuously from 4am on the 13th of December until 4am on the 15th of December.
Joburg Water confirmed that several key systems will be impacted during this period, including the Sandton and Midrand systems.
Additional infrastructure that will be impacted includes the Alexandra Park reservoir, the South Hills tower; Linksfield and Randjieslaagte reservoir.
Joburg Water cautioned that residents should not expect immediate restoration of the normal supply once the maintenance concludes,the utility says
full recovery of the systems takes several days after the completion of the maintenance.

National Spelling Bee Finals held at Sun City

South Africa’s top junior and senior spellers competed in the 2025 National Spelling Bee Finals on Thursday at the Sun City Resort in the North West.
The finalists advanced through local competitions, district eliminations and provincial championships.
Now in its 15th year, the South African National Spelling Bee, is a joint programme of the A Better Africa Foundation and the Department of Basic Education, in partnership with the National Education Collaboration Trust and literacy organisations including Nal’ibali.
The CEO of the South African Spelling Bee, Roger Dickinson, says the competition awards national colours for spelling promoting reading and literacy among learners.
