Steyn City Schools’ Grade 9 performer Erin Naik has once again proven the power of passion and perseverance at the South African Championship of Performing Arts, earning an incredible 27 medals and a third consecutive overall trophy.

The learner's victory marks the culmination of years of hard work, determination and passion for performance.

Naik's success places her among the top rising young performers in the country and highlights the incredible depth of talent that is emerging from South Africa’s youth arts sector.

Sandton residents warned of planned water outages

Areas in and around Sandton will experience water supply disruptions due to planned maintenance by Rand Water on the Palmiet system.

The maintenance is scheduled to run continuously from 4am on the 13th of December until 4am on the 15th of December.

Joburg Water confirmed that several key systems will be impacted during this period, including the Sandton and Midrand systems.

Additional infrastructure that will be impacted includes the Alexandra Park reservoir, the South Hills tower; Linksfield and Randjieslaagte reservoir.

Joburg Water cautioned that residents should not expect immediate restoration of the normal supply once the maintenance concludes, the utility says
full recovery of the systems takes several days after the completion of the maintenance.

Masters swimming returns to the Garden Route

The 41st South African Masters Swimming Championship is set to bring excitement and community spirit to the Garden Route in March next year.

The event which is presented by the Fish Eagle Masters Swimming Club, in partnership with the George Municipality, Eden Aquatics and several private sponsors, is expected to welcome masters swimmers from all corners of South Africa and neighbouring countries

The SA Masters Championship caters for adults of varying age groups, with participants ranging from recent school leavers to swimmers over 80 years of age.
The championships will be staged at world-class aquatic facilities, supported by volunteers and technical officials from clubs across the region.

Qantas launches direct Johannesburg–Perth flights

Australian national airline Qantas has launched a direct service between Johannesburg and Perth,
offering South Africans and Australians an easier and more convenient travel option.

The new route is expected to increase travel flows between Southern Africa and Australia while creating new tourism opportunities.

Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace says the route will reduce travel time to just nine hours and 55 minutes from Perth to Johannesburg.

The Tourism Minister, Patricia Delille says the launch of the new route shows what can be achieved when government and industry collaborate to support connectivity and economic growth.
