Former University of Cape Town's vice-chancellor Prof Mamokgethi Phakeng hosted the inaugural make Education fashionable awards in Pretoria, handing out R150 000 in cash prizes to graduates who are making meaningful educational impact.
Winners who were chosen from stories that were shared under the hastag make Education fashionable hashtag across various social media platforms, received R20 000 each.
The awards featured five main categories, with a special sixth category dedicated to the most inspirational story in the campaign.

Iconic South African Actor & Film producer Rapulana Seiphemo has launched the Serakatuma House of Arts and Culture, a pilot project in Rustenburg in the North West Province, aimed at providing film and television training to the local youth.
The program provides comprehensive, hands-on training in various aspects of film and Television production, including scriptwriting, producing, directing, acting, camera work and editing.
The initiative caters for young people between the ages of 18 and 35, particularly those in townships and remote areas in the North West Province.
