Soweto Learners Turn Recycling Into New School Desks

Learners at Ditawana Primary School in Soweto collected used bread bags as part of a Blue Ribbon recycling competition, encouraging children and their families to think twice before throwing plastic away.
By collecting the most bread bags, the school won R30,000 worth of support and chose to use the prize to address a shortage of classroom furniture.
The school received 20 new desks, giving more learners a proper place to sit and learn, while showing them how recycling can have a practical impact on their own community.

Boulders Beach named among the world’s best beaches

Boulders Beach near Simon’s Town has once again been recognised as one of the best beaches in the world, ranking 20th on Big 7 Travel’s 2026 list of the 50 Best Beaches in the World.
The beach is famous for its giant granite boulders, sheltered swimming coves and colony of endangered African penguins, giving visitors the rare chance to enjoy the water alongside the birds in their natural environment.

First-Time Mothers Receive Support and Skills in Soweto

Thirty first-time mothers received baby essentials, parenting support and access to skills and entrepreneurship opportunities during a special support event hosted by Maponya Mall Community Hub and Future4Baby.
The mothers were also introduced to programmes offering training in entrepreneurship, digital skills and financial literacy, creating opportunities that could continue beyond the event.
Pre-loved baby clothing and other essentials were donated to the mothers, giving useful items a second life while reducing waste.
