Thirty first-time mothers received baby essentials, parenting support and access to skills and entrepreneurship opportunities during a special support event hosted by Maponya Mall Community Hub and Future4Baby.
The mothers were also introduced to programmes offering training in entrepreneurship, digital skills and financial literacy, creating opportunities that could continue beyond the event.
Pre-loved baby clothing and other essentials were donated to the mothers, giving useful items a second life while reducing waste.

Free Surgery Changes Lives of 16 Women

Sixteen women from across South Africa have received free breast reduction surgery through the Dr Viwe Nogaga Foundation and Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha.
The surgeries were performed for women living with symptomatic breast hypertrophy, a condition that can cause chronic pain and make everyday activities difficult.
The Women’s Month initiative is helping to restore comfort, mobility and confidence, giving the women an opportunity to enjoy a better quality of life.
The foundation’s founder, Dr Viwe Nogaga, says he is excited to be part of the initiative.

The Brakpan SPCA has launched a new weekly outreach campaign to support animals in need across the community.
Every Wednesday, staff will join the inspectorate team to conduct welfare checks, distribute food and provide support to pet owners.
The society also plans to assess community needs before introducing sterilisation requests as part of the programme
