Hlompho was surprised with his very own violin and a year of free lessons, after also being invited to rehearse and experience the magic of playing alongside a live orchestra.
The gift gives the young music lover the chance to develop his talent and continue pursuing his passion for the instrument.

Former Absa CEO Cycles 4,000km Across Europe for Parkinson’s Awareness

Former Absa CEO Arrie Rautenbach is cycling 4,000 kilometres from Rovereto in northern Italy to the North Cape of Norway to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease.
Living with Parkinson’s himself, Rautenbach is using the challenge to show that a diagnosis does not mean the end of an active and meaningful life.
The ride also supports his newly established Arrie Rautenbach Parkinson’s Foundation, which aims to improve awareness, encourage earlier diagnosis and support South Africans living with the condition.

An Edenvale mother and daughter have developed an app to help residents and emergency responders quickly find the nearest fire hydrant.
Jackie and Shannon Momsen were inspired by a fire in their area last year, when finding a nearby hydrant proved difficult.
Their Find My Hydrant app allows users to upload the locations of hydrants, with GPS coordinates helping to build an accurate map for emergencies.
The project has already mapped 328 hydrants in Edenvale, with hopes that communities across South Africa will eventually add hydrants in their own areas.
