About 50 women in Fourways spent Women’s Day learning skills to protect themselves in dangerous situations.
At a free self-defence class, participants practised techniques to escape grabs, respond to attackers and defend themselves on the ground.
They also learned basic first aid, including how to respond to serious bleeding and injuries.
The session gave women practical skills they can use to respond when faced with danger.

The programme will support Grade 10 and 11 learners from 18 schools in Buffalo City with extra Mathematics and Physical Science tuition.
Learners will also receive career guidance, while teachers will get development support and exposure to STEM careers.
