Rand West City Senior Soccer Teams Gear Up for Gauteng Golden Games

Rand West City’s senior women bounced back from a 3–0 loss to Mogale City with a 6–0 victory over Merafong City at the West Rand Golden Games.
The women’s team, led by player-coach Fridah Keet, is preparing for the Gauteng Golden Games in the Vaal on 5 September.
The Rand West men’s team will also compete, featuring former professional players Ernest Ntsoelengoe and Noble Maja.
Both teams are aiming to showcase experience and skill as they represent the West Rand at the provincial competition.

SANParks Announces Free Access to National Parks

South African National Parks will offer free entry to most of its 21 parks during the 20th annual National Parks Week from 22 to 26 September 2025, with some parks extending access to 27 and 28 September.
The initiative encourages day visitors to explore South Africa’s natural, cultural and historical heritage while promoting conservation awareness.
Free access covers park entry only and excludes accommodation and other tourist activities. Participating parks include Table Mountain, Addo Elephant, Golden Gate Highlands, and Agulhas, among others, providing an opportunity for all to enjoy the country’s protected landscapes.

UP Giving Month Raises Over R620 000 to Support Students

The University of Pretoria’s inaugural UP Giving Month in July 2025 saw a surge of generosity, raising more than R620 000 and collecting 2 604 non-perishable food items to help students facing hunger and financial hardship.
Hundreds of volunteers, including staff, students, alumni and rugby players from the Vodacom Bulls and Isuzu Bulls Daisies, packed 224 food parcels, providing around 13 000 meals.
The campaign supported the Student Nutrition and Progress Programme and the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Fund, showing the impact of collective action and inspiring ongoing community support for UP students.
