President Cyril Ramaphosa has launched the R4.8 billion System 5A Water Purification Plant at Rand Water’s Zuikerbosch Station in Vereeniging.
The facility will supply 600 million litres of clean water daily to millions in Gauteng and neighbouring provinces.
It is part of a long-term plan to secure water for South Africa’s economic hub, creating jobs and supporting local businesses.
Using advanced treatment processes, the plant boosts sustainable infrastructure, climate resilience, and clean water access for communities, industry, and agriculture.
