67 Blankets event brings colour and creativity to Steyn City

The 67 Blankets for Mandela Day movement is set to host a vibrant gathering at City Centre in Steyn City on 18 April, also marking World Creativity and Innovation Day.
Founded by Carolyn Steyn, the initiative brings together knitting groups from across Johannesburg to showcase handcrafted blankets made for people in need.
The event will feature colourful displays, entertainment and food stalls, with organisers saying it celebrates creativity, community and shared purpose. Entry is free but registration is required.

Hopetown runner stuns Two Oceans field

Northern Cape athlete Arthur Jantjies has announced himself on South Africa’s road running stage after a surprise victory in the Totalsports Two Oceans Ultra Marathon in Cape Town.
The 25 year old from Hopetown produced a superb late surge to win the 56 kilometre race in 3 hours 9 minutes and 25 seconds, beating defending champion Onalenna Khonkhobe by 35 seconds.
Coached by respected mentor John Hamlett, Jantjies’ breakthrough win is being hailed as one of the biggest upsets in recent Two Oceans history. Janties says this is only the beginning

Soweto mothers gain skills through crocheting workshop

Mothers in Soweto are being empowered with new income generating skills through a crocheting workshop hosted by the Hamba Bamba Funda centre in White City.
The programme forms part of a six session skills development series aimed at teaching participants how to create handmade products they can eventually sell.
Each attendee received a starter kit and hands on training, with organisers saying the goal is to build creativity, confidence and economic opportunity for families in the community.
