Mothers in Soweto are being empowered with new income generating skills through a crocheting workshop hosted by the Hamba Bamba Funda centre in White City.
The programme forms part of a six session skills development series aimed at teaching participants how to create handmade products they can eventually sell.
Each attendee received a starter kit and hands on training, with organisers saying the goal is to build creativity, confidence and economic opportunity for families in the community.

The Tricia Survé Foundation, together with the AwqafSA Women’s Fund, has hosted an empowerment session for boys at Newton Primary School in Wellington aimed at building leadership, discipline and positive values.
Around 50 Grade 6 and 7 learners took part in activities including art and motivational talks from community leaders, educators and sports figures.
Speakers encouraged the boys to focus on good choices, resilience and personal responsibility as they shape their futures.
