Gerda Steyn wins seventh straight Two Oceans Marathon title

The queen of the road, Gerda Steyn has made history by winning her seventh consecutive Two Oceans Marathon women’s title in a time of 3 hours 27 minutes and 43 seconds.
Steyn extended her unbeaten streak in the 56-kilometre ultra since 2018 at the Cape Town race.
The men’s race was won by Arthur Jantjies in a time of three hours nine minutes, securing 380-thousand-rand after a strong final surge over the 56-kilometre course.
Meanwhile, Kenya's Felix Masai and Lavinia Haitope of Namibia won the men’s and women’s half marathon which took place yesterday.

SAAMBR runs first marine careers course for youth ambassadors in KZN

To KwaZulu Natal where, the South African Association for Marine Biological Research ran its first Marine Careers Course of the year for selected young people in the 75 Young Ocean Ambassadors programme.
Participants spent time with divers, scientists and marine staff, learning about different marine careers.
The programme reduced classroom time and focused on hands-on experience in marine work.
Learners gained exposure to marine science and environmental careers and said they left more confident about future work in the field.

Cape Town school raises funds for Breadline Africa

Rustenburg Girls’ High School in Cape Town hosted its annual Cycla-thon at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday.
The 12-hour cycling relay raised funds for Breadline Africa, which provides classrooms, libraries and sanitation facilities for schools across South Africa.
Learners from several Cape Town schools took part, while members of the public also cycled on stationary bikes and donated.
Funds raised will go towards improving learning spaces for vulnerable children in both urban and rural communities.
