Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has relaunched the Nasi Ispani initiative, aiming to employ about 45,000 young South Africans over the next two months.
The programme, open only to South African citizens living in Gauteng, offers training, internships, and public service placements to address youth unemployment.
Hundreds of young job seekers lined up in Katlehong to submit their CVs and take part in the initiative.
Since its launch in 2023, Nasi Ispani has already helped employ over 90,000 people and continues to empower young people through skills development and work opportunities.
Officials say the initiative forms part of broader efforts to reduce poverty, provide practical experience, and create sustainable pathways to employment for the province’s youth.

Speed Classic Cape Town Returns for Historic Motorsport Event

Cape Town will host the Speed Classic Cape Town this October, reviving a motorsport tradition that dates back more than a century.
The two-day event, running from 25–26 October, will showcase classic cars and modern supercars racing along Philip Kgosana Drive.
Saturday highlights include 70 rare vehicles, including a 1980 Ferrari 308 GTB and a 1930 Bentley 4.5L Le Mans.
Sunday features the King of the Mountain showdown, with high-performance machines such as the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, Lamborghini Aventador, and a 1,500-horsepower Nissan GTR35.
Local and international drivers, including South African champions and legendary Dutch racer Jan Lammers, will compete in the action-packed event.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the city is proud to support the Speed Classic Cape Town and believes it has the potential to become a major global showcase.
Organisers say the event combines heritage, excitement, and family-friendly entertainment, celebrating motoring history and South Africa’s automotive culture.

British popstar Ed Sheeran releases his eighth studio album "Play" today.

The album follows over a decade of global hits including "Shape of You" and "Perfect"
Sheeran recorded "Play" across multiple countries, finishing in Goa, India, and says it was inspired by a challenging period in his life with the aim of creating joy.
He will temporarily relocate to the United States with his family for an upcoming tour, performing at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on 20 September.
The singer will also tour Europe, New Zealand and Australia from December into March 2026.
Known for blending pop, folk and acoustic styles, Sheeran is the sixth most-streamed artist on Spotify and continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
