Olive House launches 67-day impact campaign for 25 years

Olive House Education Centre in Benoni is marking its 25th anniversary by launching a 67 Days of Impact campaign from 13 May to 18 July 2026.
The organisation is calling on South Africans to donate food, clothing, toiletries and stationery, volunteer at its programmes, and support fundraising activities linked to Nelson Mandela Day.
Founded in 2001 as a soup kitchen, Olive House now runs an early childhood development centre, agricultural training programme, computer courses and a daily feeding scheme serving up to 300 meals.
The campaign aims to expand community support and help sustain the organisation’s services for the next 25 years.

Hout Bay students raise funds for Ikamva Labantu

Students at Hout Bay International School are collecting coins to raise funds for Ikamva Labantu as part of a CAS project.
The French class placed donation boxes around the school and is encouraging contributions to support the Cape Town nonprofit’s education, youth and elderly care programmes.
The initiative is inspired by France’s Operation Yellow Coins and will see funds handed over to Ikamva Labantu on 23 June 2026.

South African entrepreneur Jaraad Hassim has developed PatchPal, a pothole repair system designed to fix road damage in under ten minutes.
The product uses a cold-mix material that is placed into potholes and compacted by passing traffic, allowing quick road repairs without large construction crews.
The system is being used in parts of Southern Africa and has attracted interest from municipalities, contractors and communities looking for faster road maintenance solutions.
PatchPal was developed in response to widespread pothole damage affecting roads across South Africa.
