Abahambi Be Tshwane begins 1,500km walk for community support

The Abahambi Be Tshwane Foundation has started a 1,500km endurance walk from Johannesburg to Cape Town to raise funds and awareness for vulnerable communities.
The walk began on May 4 and will end on May 30, with participants from Centurion, Silverton, Mamelodi and Soshanguve covering the route in 24-stages across several provinces.
The group travels through towns in the Free State, Northern Cape and Western Cape while meeting residents and encouraging community involvement.
The foundation says the campaign promotes fitness, social responsibility and support for charitable causes through sponsorships, donations and partnerships.

Hout Bay students raise funds for Ikamva Labantu

Students at Hout Bay International School are collecting coins to raise funds for Ikamva Labantu as part of a CAS project.
The French class placed donation boxes around the school and is encouraging contributions to support the Cape Town nonprofit’s education, youth and elderly care programmes.
The initiative is inspired by France’s Operation Yellow Coins and will see funds handed over to Ikamva Labantu on 23 June 2026.
Ikamva Labantu says the project will support its community-based programmes and may be shared with other schools.

2026 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival

The 2026 line-up for the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival has been launched in Braamfontein as the event marks 27 years of existence.
The launch recognised the role of Peter Tladi in supporting jazz musicians and developing platforms for local artists, and highlighted his long-standing connection with the late Hugh Masekela.
Festival organisers used the event to reflect on the history of the festival and its contribution to the South African jazz scene.
Producer Mantwa Chinoamadi says the festival continues to support and showcase jazz talent:

Rolling Stones announces album release

The Rolling Stones will release their new album, Foreign Tongues, on July 10.
The band announced the album while releasing a new single, In The Stars, and sharing studio footage featuring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood.
The record follows 2023’s Hackney Diamonds, the group’s first album in 18 years.
Foreign Tongues will include guest appearances from Paul McCartney and Robert Smith of The Cure.
