Children at New Hope School in Pretoria now have a bigger, better, and more inclusive playground thanks to a revamp led by volunteers on RED Day.
Social worker Wilma Pretorius says the specially designed space will boost physical, social, and cognitive development for learners with special needs.
Tracks have been added for wheelchairs, and the play area now includes shaded canopies, a bigger sandpit, and buddy benches. Principal Gerhard Venter thanked all involved, saying the upgrade ensures that every child, regardless of ability, can now play, learn, and thrive together.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has announced it will spend over $200 billion in the next 20 years before officially closing its doors in 2045.
Driven by what it calls “urgency and opportunity,” the foundation is accelerating its mission to tackle global health challenges and reduce poverty.
Bill Gates, who pledged to give away nearly all his wealth, says he hopes the foundation’s intensified efforts will help end preventable deaths of mothers and babies and lift millions out of poverty.
Since 2000, the foundation has already contributed over $100 billion to global health and development.

Horizon Shopping Centre and Siyabonga Dorah’s Ark ,hosted the Threads Up initiative on the 3rd of May in Roddepoort Gauteng .
The project offered homeless and vulnerable residents a dignified shopping experience.
Participants selected clothing, shoes, toiletries, books, and toys, helping them access essentials often taken for granted.
The event also featured a salon for haircare, face painting for kids, and a warm meal for all attendees, adding joy to the day.
The initiative reinforced the power of community support in uplifting those in need.
