The event also featured a salon for haircare, face painting for kids, and a warm meal for all attendees, adding joy to the day.

Ithala Bank Reopens, Customers to Access Funds This Week

Ithala Bank has reopened today, following a Pietermaritzburg High Court ruling that set aside the decision to freeze its accounts.
KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Reverend Musa Zondi, says customers will start accessing their money this week as systems are being restored with help from ABSA.
The court ruled that the Repayment Administrator had no authority to manage the bank’s day-to-day operations.
Zondi welcomed the outcome, saying it confirms the provincial government's stance and brings relief to Ithala clients.
The bank, founded by Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi, was created to support economic empowerment in the province.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has been chosen to lead a global project on sustainability, working with 54 universities from countries in the Global South.
UJ will help create a toolkit for universities to teach sustainability in ways that make sense for their local needs.
This project builds on a successful pilot in 2023, led by Professor Kathija Yassim, which showed the importance of having an African approach to sustainability.
Over the next five years, Professor Yassim will guide the project to help students become future leaders in sustainability.
This project is part of UJ’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, which also supports its high global ranking.
