KLC donates dignity bags to support survivors

Johannesburg charity Kindness Like Confetti has handed over 127 dignity bags to The National Children & Violence Trust.
The bags, filled with essentials like underwear, toiletries, and comfort items, will be distributed through the trust’s Victim Support Units to help survivors of domestic violence, rape, and gender-based abuse.
KLC says the initiative ensures victims’ basic needs are met when it’s unsafe to return home, while also offering practical support and restoring a sense of dignity.

Eskom’s Koeberg Nuclear Power Station has reached a major milestone, with Unit 2 completing 365 consecutive days of continuous operation.
The unit has maintained a 99.4 percent Energy Availability Factor and delivers around 946 megawatts to the national grid, helping provide stable electricity to Cape Town, the Western Cape, and beyond.
Eskom’s Bheki Nxumalo praised the dedication of engineers, technicians, operators, and support staff, noting that the installation of new steam generators made this uninterrupted run possible

R5 million up for grabs in Gauteng smart mobility challenge

South African innovators have the chance to turn their ideas into real solutions with the Gauteng National CleanTech Innovation Challenge.
The competition is looking for smart mobility solutions, including electric vehicles, intelligent transport systems, last-mile delivery, ride-sharing, commuter safety, fleet management, and transport data analytics. Applications close on 21 April 2026.
A total of R5 million in prizes is up for grabs.
The top national prize is R3 million, second place takes R2 million, and each of the nine provinces will award a R1 million prize to support local projects.
Thirty semi-finalists will also get specialised support to help scale their innovations.
Organisers say the challenge will help Gauteng tackle traffic congestion, cut emissions, and showcase South African innovation on the global stage.
