Community members in Eldorado Park participated in a walkathon organised by Empire Bus and the City of Johannesburg to raise awareness about illegal dumping and promote recycling.
Stakeholders from Pick it Up, Purpose Recycling and local groups engaged residents on ways to protect the environment.
The campaign forms part of the Breed Better Cities initiative, which encourages recycling and supports local recycling projects that create jobs.
The youth group Sikhulisa Intsha Yethu showed that recycling helps the environment and supports young people.

Sandton-based organisation Kindness Like Confetti has donated 127 dignity bags to the National Children & Violence Trust.
The bags, containing toiletries, and personal care items, will be distributed through the Trust’s Victim Support Units to women fleeing domestic violence or GBV.
This initiative provides immediate support and ensures women receive necessary items when returning home is unsafe.
Donors made the donation possible, helping KLC provide practical assistance and restore dignity to survivors.

The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra visited a primary school in Cape Town to perform for students and introduce them to classical music.
Children sang and watched as the orchestra demonstrated instruments and performed pieces from classical, popular and film music.
The visit was part of CPO’s annual Schools’ Concerts programme which reaches around 15,000 children across Cape Town each year.
The concerts give thousands of children hands-on exposure to orchestral music.
