Randburg Community Rallies Behind Fundraiser for Cheshire Home Resident

Community members turned out in support of a fundraising soccer and netball tournament at Old Parks Sports Club in Randburg to help Ann Harding Cheshire Home resident Tom Sundawo cover his rent.
Sundawo became a paraplegic after being shot during an armed robbery at work. While he receives compensation, it is not enough to cover his monthly living costs.
The annual tournament, which began as a gathering among friends 12 years ago, has grown into a community fundraiser featuring sport, food, music and an auction.
Sundawo thanked supporters for attending, saying the event was a huge success.

South African Photographer Earns International Recognition for Emotional Tribute to Her Father

South African photographer Louhani Els has been Highly Commended at the World Food Photography Awards for a deeply personal image inspired by her late father.
Her artwork, Food Altar – Sardines and my Dad, was recognised in the Cake Award category, standing out among nearly 9,000 entries from more than 50 countries.
The image uses food symbolism to explore memory and healing, featuring a damaged cake alongside elements linked to her father’s sardine, cracker and onion ritual. Els says the piece reflects reconciliation, remembrance and emotional healing.
The World Food Photography Awards celebrate the best in global food photography, with entries judged by an international panel of chefs and photographers.
