Randburg Football Club's young players met one of their own, Bafana Bafana defender Ime (eemay) Oh kon. Fresh from helping South Africa make history at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Oh kon returned to the club where his football journey began.The talented defender received a hero's welcome as young players, coaches and parents gathered to celebrate one of their own reaching football's biggest stage. Oh kon developed his game over several seasons in the Gauteng development league with Randburg FC before moving to SuperSport United. That move paved the way for his transfer to German club Hannover 96.During his visit, Oh kon signed autographs, posed for photos and spent time chatting with aspiring footballers.

The success follows another strong showing at the Fourways Challenge Interclub Tournament in May, where the team also claimed an impressive medal haul.

South African Professor Mike Sathekge has been awarded a 3 million rand grant to advance research that could transform the diagnosis and treatment of aggressive breast cancer.
The head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Pretoria and Steve Biko Academic Hospital received the 2025 Harry Oppenheimer Fellowship Award from the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust. The funding will support his work in theranostics, an innovative field that combines diagnosis and targeted treatment.The technology helps doctors see exactly where cancer is in the body, understand how it is behaving and choose treatments that are better suited to each individual patient. It can also help doctors track how well treatment is working over time.
The grant supports groundbreaking South African research that could improve cancer care and offer hope to breast cancer patients worldwide.
