The Waterfall City Half Marathon is set to make a triumphant return on the 21st of September.

Runners of all levels will take part in the race that has become one of Gauteng’s premier athletic events.

Now in its fourth year the race has cemented its reputation not only as a test of endurance and performance, but also as a vibrant celebration of community spirit, wellness and cutting edge Innovation.

Hosted by the Waterfall City Athletics Club, the event has grown steadily in popularity, drawing thousands of participants from across the province.

The best restaurants from in and around Knysna in the Western Cape went head-to-head during the Oyster Cooking competition at the 42nd annual Knysna Oyster Festival, as they vied for the title of Best Dressed Oyster, serving up their most creative creations to guests.

Originally initiated in 1983 and known as the Knysna Winter Festival, the event helps to boost the town’s revenue during its off season, attracting around 70 000 visitors during its 10-day run.

The spin-offs from the event positively impact the local economy and brings relief to hundreds of small businesses.

A prominent Russian university has officially introduced isiZulu as part of its language curriculum, a move aimed at strengthening cultural and educational ties between Russia and South Africa.

The initiative marks the first time the Nguni language — spoken by over 12 million people in South Africa — is being taught in a Russian institution of higher learning.

The programme, launched earlier this year, is hosted by the Institute of Asian and African Studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University, one of Russia’s most prestigious academic institutions.
