Gauteng’s top matric achiever, Kamogelo Tshabalala from Acudeo College Kirkney, says good preparation and strong support from teachers and classmates made his matric journey “easy.”
Tshabalala plans to study Actuarial Science at the University of Cape Town, combining his love of mathematics and science with a childhood dream.
Confident about the challenge, he hopes to inspire young people, promote literacy, and empower youth through education, sports, arts, and culture. He urges Grade 12 learners to start early, focus, and ask questions, saying laying a strong foundation now can open doors to success and even greater opportunities.

Twenty-one fishermen were rescued on Monday after their fishing vessel, Silver Dorado, caught fire about one nautical mile off Noordhoek, Gqeberha.
The National Sea Rescue Institute responded to a mayday call, while several local fishing vessels assisted in bringing all crew members safely to shore.
All 21 were medically assessed at the NSRI base in Port Elizabeth and confirmed uninjured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the South African Maritime Safety Authority and police.

The Hershey Bears in the USA held their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday, with fans throwing 81,796 stuffed animals onto the ice in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The toys were collected and will be distributed to children in need across central Pennsylvania, including schools, hospitals, and military families.
The event, which began in 2001, has provided nearly 650,000 stuffed animals to children.
Local teenager Gabby Kerchner has contributed more than 125,000 through her nonprofit, Gabby’s Acts of Kindness.
The Teddy Bear Toss combines hockey excitement with a major charitable effort, turning a single goal into a cascade of donations for children throughout the region.
