Community Farming Project Expands to Address Youth Vulnerability in Soshanguve
Story 1
A community organisation in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, is expanding its farming initiative as part of new efforts to address youth vulnerability and homelessness in the area.
Tshego Helping Hands says it is strengthening partnerships with local organisations and has begun engagements with the Department of Agriculture to support the project’s growth.
The initiative uses farming activities to keep young people off the streets while providing basic skills development.
Organisers say the expansion comes amid growing pressure on families reliant on social grants and increasing concern over youth exposure to crime.
