Main Street Brings People Back to Marshalltown
Story 1
Marshalltown came alive this weekend as Main Street Sundays once again transformed part of Johannesburg’s CBD into a car free public space.
The initiative saw a stretch of Main Street closed to traffic, giving pedestrians, cyclists, skaters and families room to enjoy markets, live music, food, art and children’s activities.
The event forms part of a broader effort to make Johannesburg’s inner city more walkable and welcoming, while also creating opportunities for local traders and businesses.

Beloved community Santa gives the gift of life
Teaser / Tailpiece story
A man who has spent years dressing up as Santa Claus to bring joy to children across his community in Powhatan, Virginia, has delivered his most meaningful gift yet by donating a kidney to a stranger.
Dave Bell lost about 18 kilograms to qualify for the transplant and says he wanted to help someone in need because he could live a healthy life with one kidney.
He even wore his Santa hat while recovering in hospital, with doctors hoping his selfless act will inspire more people to consider becoming organ donors.
